Hoje foi um dia de descoberta - feliz.

Como já vem a ser hábito, a minha melhor amiga - Filipa - e eu temos uma rotina semanal : ir a Belém. Hoje após um almoço, com direito a gelado e tudo, decidimos caminhar pela zona pedonal do Padrão dos Descobrimentos junto ao Tejo. Sempre distraídas entre gargalhadas, má lingua (óbvio, senão não seríamos 100% raparigas, Am I right?) e perdidas com milhentas fotos, passou-nos ao lado estas semanas todas desde Setembro...imaginem. Hoje, ah, mas hoje, não. Hoje saltou-nos à vista os toldos brancos esvoaçantes, a música ambiente, a esplanada coberta de luz solar e as espreguiçadeira junto ao lago, agora decorado, que envolve todo aquele terreno.

Decidimos finalmente dar ali um saltinho e desfrutar dos últimos grandes minutos de sol e obviamente do espaço.
De nome de Espaço Espelho D'Água, foi construído em 1940 e agora recentemente foi recuperado e transformado num parque de momentos - em Belém - de vista para o mar e com o Padrão dos Descobrimentos de background.

Today I made a discovery - a most fortunate one.

As usual, my best friend Filipa and I have a weekly routine: visiting Belém. After today's lunch, with ice cream as the icing on the cake, we decided to go for a stroll by Padrão dos Descobrimentos, overseeing the Tagus River. We're usually distracted with our laughter, some friendly bantering (as every girl should, am I right?) and the endless photos we take. As such, this little gem has eluded us since September, can you imagine? Oh, but not today my friends. Today the pearly-white awnings, the enrapturing background music, the sun bathed esplanade and the deck chairs facing its soothing pond filled with Tagus' water caught our attention.

At long last we decided to check the place out, and make sure we didn't let the last minutes of today's delicious sunlight go to waste. Known as Espaço Espelho D'Água, it was originally built around 1940 and it has recently undergone some renovations. This allowed it to become a special place where unique moments - in Belém - are born, with a great view of the river and the Padrão dos Descobrimentos as background.

O interior do café é simples, de cores claras, um espaço "minimalista" ou sóbrio. Elegante nos seus detalhes - dos pequenos e dos grandes. Simples na construção do espaço e com a particularidade de haver, a fazer as honras a casa, peças de arte.

The inside space is simple, with light colours and a very minimalistic and sober style to it. Every single detail, be it a major or minor thing, transpires elegance. A few works of art also give this simple space a particular feel to it.

A ementa tem de tudo um pouco, desde a pequenos petiscos a grandes, dos sumos aos cafés, para os apreciadores um belo de um vinho. O staff sempre com um sorriso na cara e com óptimo atendimento, uma simpatia. Só poderei avaliar tudo isto em 5*.

Looking at the menu we're given a wide choice of delicacies to satisfy ourselves with. All sorts and sizes of snacks, a plethora of juices and coffee, and those with a taste for wine will not be disappointed. The staff is unbelievable, with a pleasant and warm smile and great professionalism they will make you feel at home. Needless to say, this place deserves nothing less than five stars.
